On Course DRIVER YIPS!! (How I have fixed it! Well, Kind of!)

I Have The YIPS! The Driver YIPS!

Going on about 3 YEARS+ I have struggled with the DRIVER YIPS on the golf course only. The most frustrating part about the whole thing is that I can hit the driver perfect on the range. Ball after ball on the range is straight and long, on the course it is anything but! I do not have the yips with any other club, just the driver. I am currently a 3.1 handicap who hasn’t hit a driver during a round in over 2 years.

INSERT THE MINI DRIVER!!

As I hit 3-wood after 3-wood off the tee, I started to wonder if I could gain some distance using a Mini Driver and avoid the Yips. So, I bought a used Callaway Bertha Mini 1.5 off EBAY and put the same driver shaft in it that I was fitted for in my standard driver (EVENFLOW BLACK 6.5 65 grams). The only difference in shaft is that the Standard Driver sits at 44.5″ and the Mini Driver is at 43.5″. The Mini Driver is set at 11° and the Standard Driver is 9.5°.

CURED FOR NOW***

The Mini Driver has cured my “Driver” Yips for now! On the course I am able to make a free swing with the Mini Driver without having my body freak out. When I yip with a Standard Driver I can feel it (I don’t know how to explain it, but it feels like I lose control of my upper and lower body and have no idea where the club face is), and with the Mini Driver I have now played 3 full rounds without yipping it, and I am only losing about 10 yards of distance at most! (WATCH OUT FOR OUR NEW VIDEO COMING SOON, DRIVER DISTANCE vs. MINI DRIVER DISTANCE!)

I would recommend for any golfer that has an issue with the Standard Driver, to try out a Mini Driver. There are a bunch of options on the market now, some with bigger heads, some with smaller. I believe the Callaway Bertha Mini 1.5 is the smallest head, which I seem to prefer. I believe my Driver Yips are somehow tied to the size of the Standard Driver size. These things are just HUGE NOW, and it freaks me out on the course!

If you are a golfer or preferably golf teacher and can see anything in my below swings, please for the love of god help me out!!!!! Below is a Non-Yip Swing in practice and a Yip Swing on the course!
